Sicilian Plant-Based Pizza for Lowering Cholesterol

A heart-healthy Sicilian pizza recipe packed with soluble fiber, plant-based proteins, and healthy fats to support a diet aimed at lowering high cholesterol.
Ingredients
- 1 pre-made whole wheat pizza crust
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup cooked lentils
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup chopped red bell peppers
- 1/4 cup diced red onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
Evenly distribute the lentils, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, garlic, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes on top of the sauce.
Drizzle olive oil over the toppings and season with salt and pepper.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are cooked.
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, slice, and serve hot.
